Glory
Can you see his glory now?
A warm welcome if you’re new here! I try to post 2-3 poems a month, though I don’t always meet that goal. Thanks for subscribing!
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:1-4)

A child in Bethlehem’s stable— In Adam’s flesh God’s Son appears. On the earth he is a stranger. Do you see his glory here? He who formed the vast expanses, Whose mighty hand the skies have spread, He who cares for every sparrow Finds no place to lay his head. Drops of blood fall in the garden; His head is bowed in agony. All alone and all forsaken— Take this cup—his humble plea. He’s made the song that drunkards sing; The sins of many now he bears. Made to be sin who knew no sin— And no one for his soul cares. Now see him lying in the tomb— Still and cold are his hands, his feet. Eyes of pity are closed in death; Heart of love no longer beats. Brightness of the Father’s glory, Veiled by death but never lessened. Rising to life he conquers hell, Ascends victorious to heaven. By his word he upholds all things— No ounce of power does he lack. By himself, purged our sins away; They are cast behind his back. By the Father he’s exalted In majesty, with honor crowned, As the King upon the great throne— Do you see his glory now?
