On the Waves
I saw Him there upon the sea— (At first I was afraid;) But when I knew my Saviour’s voice, I did not see the waves. My feet then on the water stepped; My eyes fixed on His face. So quickly though, they turned below— I felt the sea’s embrace. “Save me!” —But ere the cry had left my lips His arm was there to save. His hand reached out, “Why do you doubt? How little is your faith!” —— When He walks upon the water, How steady are His feet. He is standing upon the waves, Not sinking in the deep. So when He bids me come to Him, While the waves roll and foam, I’ll look by faith upon His face And step into the storm. He truly is the Son of God, The Saviour of my soul! He binds my wounds, He gently heals And makes the broken whole.
